Not without GH. If I for example apply programs they are taken right away but only as 1.00 2.00 and so on.

But they work fine previously right? Does it just happen in the recent updates?

Yes, the same exact workflow that I showed here for coloring with Face attributes will also work with HB Color Faces:
Just swap out the Room attribute component for the HB Color Faces component.
