Set up Batch runs in Pollination

Hello all,

I need to run 30 options with varying R-values for roof. walls etc. x 9 locations. Is there a way to set that up using Pollination? That would help me offload the runs without taxing my current laptop which is quite basic. Alternatively if I want to setup 30 E+ runs can I batch upload all IDFs to Pollination ? Please point me to any available examples.

Thanks

Hi @ranojoy here is a video of how to run a parametric study:

Hopefully that is helpful

Thank you. This is easy to follow and helpful. However is the Fly component available in the latest version of LBT? I did not find it Or is there an alternative?

Hi @ranojoy I’m glad you found the video helpful.
The fly component should be in the pollination tab here:

if its not there we can figure out why.

Hi @ranojoy, As @tfedyna mentioned fly is now part of the Pollination Grasshopper plugin. I will be recording new video tutorials soon.

This is what i see under pollination. I am missing all the other components

You have Pollination Grasshopper. Try installing Pollination Rhino.

The new Fly components should be included in the Pollination Grasshopper.
@ranojoy what version do you have installed?

Hi @ranojoy,

I’ll work on the video tutorials this week. Do you have a list of numbers for roof and wall R values? I can use some typical numbers, but I thought it might be better to use the inputs from your example.

This is what I have installed but i dont see the FLY component

Here is the list of R values. Just FYI I already completed the runs in E+ so no rush. But would love to see what you do in Pollination.

One thing to note is that the values listed are supposed to be the R value for the entre construction assembly so I had to reduce the insulation material value to ensure the overall R value matched the target

Here is the first video that goes through the process of setting up parametric studies. This one only covers the basics. I will record more videos and make an official announcement with more real-life use cases soon.
